Christmas

I made a mini-book for my sister for Christmas and I wanted to post a few pictures of it.  It's full of drawings of stretchy people.

 ..like this dude, who is wearing pants, but also not wearing pants.

Every book I make is better than the last. So maybe my New Years Resolution will be to try as many different binding techniques as I can. My mom bought me this book for Christmas, so now I feel okay about my overly-ambitious ways.
I also officially became a member of The Canadian Book Binders and Book Artists Guild. A good, purposeful sounding guild. Being a member of a guild at all, seems pretty cool.

The Polar Express

More art is on its way. I'm working on mini books and watercolours. And drawing, always.

I just bought a beautiful hardcover copy of The Polar Express because I figured I should own it.  It's the hardcovers that are the most difficult to resist. Also, Chris Van Allsburg is difficult to resist. The edition came with an audio reading by Liam Neeson (?) which was perhaps another good reason to buy it. I can't remember which accent is Liam Neeson's real accent. We shall see.

Collaboration

Working on new drawings to be paired with some writing by my friend, Becky Martin.  More to come on this project soon.

Progress

 

I've been living in Vancouver the past two months, creeping around.  I have a plane ticket home now and a few reasons why I'm not a city girl, but I don't think I came here for much more than family anyway. I have a good family. They're all romantics.

This drawing has been piecing itself together over the span of my little adventure. I'm having trouble actually finishing it.

A new drawing

I started this drawing a few weeks ago and it wasn't going well until I scribbled all over it today. I think we're starting to understand one another so I plan to keep visiting it. Pausing it for now because I need to buy a pencil sharpener.

I've finally taken some time to post a few images.  Some of my documentation is very old so I'll have to go back and retake pictures - I also have much more old work to photograph.

The title image is bound to change as well.

In the meantime, this little blog is looking pretty good! More to come!
